The Golden Gaytimes hit the ground running in 2024 with a new single 'Swipe Right Swipe Left' and a run of new live shows across NSW & VIC.
The Golden Gaytimes (featuring members of Muzzy Pep, The Sleepy Jackson, Forever Since Breakfast and The Great Dividing Range), with the one and only Jane ‘Jane-O’ Harvey up front, have rapidly made a name for themselves since the release of their 2024 debut album Hot As Buggery.
The Maitland NSW band are driven by the understanding that great music is made with liberal measures of both spook and wonk, and their debut album has inspired a run of madcap, psychedelic and party atmosphere gigs, guaranteed to have punters heading for the dance floor.
‘Swipe Right Swipe Left’, the fourth single from Hot as Buggery, is a slow burning slice of psychedelic rock 'n' roll that bursts into soaring space rock chorus. It's all infectious melody and irrepressible groove, the perfect blend of new wave synth and freewheeling guitar rock.
Discussing the song, the band recall how "we witnessed a curious happenstance with a friend on a van travelling north when someone Tinder swiped her. We were inspired to write a song about it!"
"Undertaking a little market research and the requisite signal deciphering we took a deep dive into the murky wheeling and dealings of the online dating booty and/or love hustle. We didn't write our friend's story in the end," they confess, "but we did come up with this!"
